Kirtland AFB Temporary Lodging Facility Review

For the first hotel I have decided to give you my own personal review of the Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF) they have on base. For those who have no idea what I'm actually talking about I should explain that the TLF is the military version of a hotel.

Hotel: Kirtland Inn
Where: Kirtland Air Force Base, nestled right on the edge of Albuquerque, NM.

Address:
              Bldg. 22016 on Club Road
              Albuquerque, NM 87117

Room type: Temporary Lodging Facility,  House styled. These houses are mainly for military personnel and their family when they need to stay in albuquerque for more then a few weeks time.

Number of rooms- There are three bedrooms, One living room, One dining room, and one fully equipped Kitchen.

The picture to the left is a good idea of what the bedrooms look like. The third bedroom has two twin sized beds in it along with a nice sized TV. Did I mention there were Televisions in EVERY ROOM? Thats right. There are 4 Televisions in the hotel in which you could watch whatever show you wanted! That's luxury my friends!

I stole that picture exactly from the Kirtland Air force website. Why? Because its accurate. I would say there is also a large dresser on the side of the room that you can store all you luggage and.

An important note: the curtains on the windows are like blackout curtains.I definitely recommend using either the clocks they have there to wake up, or bring and alarm with you so you dont oversleep. Unless of course your intent is to oversleep every single morning!

I would note that if you do plan to oversleep "beware" the maids come into the room at around 8 am.  Even when you have a sign that says "do not disturb". Yes they even came knocking on my door Christmas morning making sure we had everything that we needed.  Yes customer service there is excellent.

The TLF also had a living room, dining room and full sized kitchen! You hear that? there's a kitchen!  They have pots, pans, plates, cups, mugs, Coffee maker, washer, dryer, Dishwasher, and almost every utensil you might need if you staying there for an extended stay

The Upsides!

So when you first step into your TLF your first reaction will most likely be.. " WOW this place looks really nice!"  In all honesty.. IT IS!  THere are new carpets,  new furniture, probably fresh paint, and decent fixtures.  One thing that really impressed me was the significant size of the living room/ dining room area.

Why might you ask? I was there at the TLF during the week right before Christmas, and I wanted to put up my 7 foot christmas tree. We were able to move the furniture around a little and plug in all the lights and everything and set up the tree without much of a hassle.

Now I promised I would tell you about the cleanliness of the hotel so here you go!

Cleanliness- I give this hotel 5 stars. The place was clean when I got there. If your staying there for an extended period of time I do recommend utilizing the vacuum they have hidden away in the closet. I realize not every guests wants to vacuum their hotel room, but its an Oreck so it gets the job done in a reasonable amount of time. If your there for longer then a week, They assume your going to do some cleaning yourself.

Extras- If you want to know about the local places to eat at they have a folder with all the information you could need to know about the entertainment and restaurants nearby.  It's not above and beyond. But its decent information

Some Issues:

 -  There is only one bathroom in the house styled TLF.
 -  The bathtub faucet leaked continuously during our stay and they weren't able to fix it while we were there.
 -  They could have had more blankets. Hotels never have enough extra blankets
*  -    THey were repaving some roads outside of the hotel so you could hear the jackhammering during the day, plus there was troubles finding parking spaces with all the construction crews around.

That's all I have for my review of the TLF's at Kirtland Air Force Base Inn. I hope it was informative for you and you enjoyed reading!
